Rev. Hank Hamilton

Hello everyone. These 2 songs are a salute to God’s love for us and a salute to a mother’s love also. Song #1 was sung for us on Mother’s Day Sunday by our very own beloved Steve Hatten. Thank you, Steve.

Guardian Angel (Leah West) abridged

Little baby up in heaven says to God “Do I really have to go?” God replies “Yes it’s your time to leave But don’t you worry you won’t be there alone

You see there’s someone who’s been waiting for you Quietly hoping and praying For your sweet and safe arrival Down on earth

Everyone is born with a guardian angel And on her wings she’ll let you soar Higher than you thought was possible She’ll love you and protect you like no other And your guardian angel has a name You can call her mother

As you grow and make your way on through the world She’ll be a softer light to guide you on your way Instilling bits of wisdom like arrows in your quiver To help with all the challenges that you’ll have to face

Rest assured that no matter where you are You’ll be surrounded by her love A gentle support to help you keep your faith You’re always in her heart and who she’s thinking of

The sacrifices that she will make To put you first when everything’s at stake How all that she’s devoted Until now you never noticed She was showing you How to be a guardian angel too

While You Were Holding Me (Jasmine Murray) abridged

While you were holding me You were praying prayers that only mamas do While you were holding me You were fighting battles your babies never knew And I never knew ’til now just how strong you were Drying all my tears while fighting yours

All that darkness you lived through Couldn’t dim the light inside of you All the broken pieces You kept giving them to Jesus And He gave you strength to raise me up Knowing one day I would see He was holding you While you were holding me

While you were holding me You were showing what it means to live by faith And you taught me to believe There is hope even in the deepest pain I remember every day

Oh, you spent so many hours, down upon your knees Shaking on the gates of heaven, calling angels down for me So selflessly you gave, made me who I am today And I never knew ’til now, just how strong you were

“Finish What You Started” ~ II Corinthians 8:10-15

Have you ever made a commitment to do something only to see that commitment fail? The Christians in Corinth had promised a year earlier to take up a love gift. This money was to be used for the gospel and helping Christian Jews who were suffering for their faith. But the infiltration of false teachers into the young church had resulted in that commitment faltering.

Paul continues his challenge to get the Church back on track, giving the church three more reasons to fulfill their monetary promise.

Christians have a duty to support other believers who are being persecuted for their faith. He wasn’t talking about people who refused to work or who were just looking for a handout. No, these fellow Christians were suffering because of their faith in Jesus!

We are the body of Christ, and when one is hurting, we all feel the hurt. The community of faith should look out for one another.

Keeping a promise is a matter of character. Jesus had taught, “Let your yes be yes, and your no, no.” We are accountable to cover what our mouth commits to! We are to mean what we say.

Our actions are a direct picture to the unsaved world of who Christ is. If our actions can’t be trusted, how can our words? Everything we do should be done for the glory of the Lord.

Church, let’s be a people who finish what we start, and who are faithful to our commitments. Let us bring honor to God in every area of our lives.

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt

Mike chose the beautiful praise song “Who am I “ for our special music? B r o . Bubba’s message was ”Day’s of Malachi.” Malachi 1,2.

Through Malachi, the Lord was telling his people that they were honoring many other things more than Him.

They were bringing less than the best of the lambs for sacrifice. Yet for others, they used their finest resources. God reminded them of the commitment He expects of His people. When they first returned from captivity, they were fired up to rebuild and worship God. As time passed, they lost their zeal, their first love. Gradually, they no longer honored God. Some even went into idolatry. The Bible warns us that the same thing can happen to us. We were challenged to think back to our salvation experience. How excited we were! Then as time goes, by we get busy and fail to spend as much time in prayer and Bible study. Maybe we don’t fellowship with other Christians as much. That’s when we fail to bring our best to the Lord. He still loves us. He gave his son for us. We should have nothing in our lives greater than service to him.

Therefore, with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation – Isaiah 12:3. This was the day Jesus spoke of in John 7:37-46. Today, people draw water from the wrong well, exchanging religion in place of Christianity. Many experience religion without the Holy Spirit. The average Christian today comes to ‘Calvary’ for ‘Salvation’, but do not go to ‘Pentecost’ for ‘Power”.

If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. Anyone can have Christ, if they desire Him. Are you thirsty? Thirst for God! As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God – Psalm 42:1. We often take what the world has to offer, and no longer desire what Jesus has. As long as we have health and happiness, we feel we have no need of God. My friend, health and happiness are temporary; however, when these are gone, that is when we find we need Him.

The filling of the Holy Spirit is not a ‘feeling’. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. The Spirit will flow out of our lives, ‘spilling’ blessings onto others. Our prayers will not be from selfish motives – asking for ‘special gifts’, to be a ‘super saint’, etc. Our prayers will be to find ways to serve Him, providing us with ways to be a blessing to others.

Are you thirsty? Come to Jesus – drink, trust, believe. And then, become a blessing to others.
