Sunday was a great day to be in the Lord’s house, several families out but still a good attendance. Sunday School attendance was a little low. 

Bro Aleck is preaching through Matthew on Sunday mornings and Revelation Wednesday and Sunday nights. 

Opportunities to worship: Sunday School 9:45 am, Worship 11:00, Suddnday night 5 PM, Wednesday night 6:30. Choir practice will be on Wednesday nights 5:30 pm. Our services are live streamed through Facebook each Sunday and Wednesday.

The Good Shepherd and His Sheep – book of John, Chapter 10 

10 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. 

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[^a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. 

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord…” 

John 15:15 “I don’t call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. But I’ve called you friends because I’ve made known to you everything that I’ve heard from my Father.”

Mike chose a very moving song for his special this morning, “ Then I Met the Master”. 

The title of brother Bubba‘s message today was “When Time Runs Out”. Our lives are like sand running through an hour glass. When the sand of our lives runs out, we will leave this earth. God is a God of love and mercy, but also of anger. In Judges 10:7 we are told how God “ had enough” of Israel’s idolatry and let the Philistines take them. Sometimes, God takes the saved home to Heaven early because of their disobedience. Sometimes, he disciplines and gives us longer to repent. In the days of Noah, God destroyed everyone but Noah and his family. When the Israelites were disobedient and built and worshiped the golden calf, God let 3000 men die. When we look about us, we see that so many have lost the fear of God. If we aren’t bringing people to God, we are pushing them away. We need to make a choice to fully follow God. Time is running out.

Romans 13:11-14 – Do you really know what time it is? It is later than you think! Our salvation is related to time – for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. We are saved – for by grace you are saved, through faith – Ephesians 2:8 (Justification); we are being saved as we work out our salvation – Philippians 2:12 (Sanctification); and one day be saved from the presence of sin, when we go to Heaven (Glorification). Throughout Eternity we will have unlimited time with the LORD. We know not the hour; we must be ready, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 

Christians, it is time to Wake Up and discern the signs of the times – Matthew 16:3. We have ‘current’ events in one hand; the Bible in the other. This is not a time to sleep! The danger of the Laodiceans in Revelations is they were spiritually lukewarm. We need to be working hard to reach people for Christ. The great day of Christ’s return is at hand! 

We need to ‘dress up’ our lives, putting on the whole armor of God – Ephesians 6:13-18. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. The Christian life should be under the control of the Holy Spirit, allowing God to lead. We are to put on the Lord Jesus Christ, who has a plan and pattern for our life, not providing a way to sin. Then, we can faithfully lead others to HIM!
