War — the tanker wars

Say what you will, we are at war. The surgical air strikes that are being launched against Iran rival the early days of Desert Storm and America should be proud of the young men and women that have given up a part of their lives to not only protect America but to destroy evil around the world. 

Before there was a Desert Shield/ Storm there was the Iran/Iraq War. In 1979 the Shah of Iran was deposed and the country was taken over by a religious leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Iran has an army and it has police but the zealot and traditionalist Revolution Guard is the ruling military force. It is like the Pretorian Guard of the ancient Ceasar in Rome. It is now debated if the Guard is not truly ruling the country. Under its control is the navy, at least what is left of it, and the space force which includes ballistic missiles. On Saturday of this week the president of Iran stated that Iran apologized for firing on Gulf states and said it would stop only to have a ballistic missile slam into the Dubai airport and a major oil complex in Iraq later that day.
