Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry encourages passage of Constitutional Amendment 3, which would increase teacher pay raises
Governor Landry used his State of the State address to push for the passage of Constitutional Amendment 3 on the May 16th ballot. Landry says the amendment would pay down debt within the Teachers Retirement System of Louisiana which would free up money for teacher pay raises.
“This amendment is not a temporary stipend. It is not a promise for another day. It is a permanent raise earned, reliable and responsibly funded,” Landry said.
If Amendment 3 passes, the permanent pay raise would be $2,200 for teachers and $1,100 for support staff. These educators are receiving this money, but it’s considered a stipend and could go away.
