Question: Have you ever watched an animal “mom” watch over, nurture (the process of caring for and encouraging the growth or development of someone) and teach her young (her children)?

We can learn a lot from watching nature’s moms. We can learn even more, love even deeper and teach our own young even better if we, through the gospels, learn the ways of Christ Jesus. Jesus was sent to us to help us understand that Love Does Conquer All. That we are to love as He did. That we are to serve others, as He did. That we are to forgive, as He did.

We are to learn, understand and know that Jesus was sent to “show us the way”, to believe that He IS the Way. If we follow Jesus and His teachings, we will naturally watch over, nurture, love and serve others.

Some of us naturally and instinctively know how to nurture, love and serve — in an earthly human kinda way. But do we know how to do this as a child of God; in a Jesus-like way? Maybe not… not without studying the Master. We need to learn all He came to teach us… the “how to live” our lives. Then after being fully engulfed by and engaged with the Holy Spirit; we will understand His will for us. In doing so we will become Children of God and He will watch over us.

“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are His; we are His people.” Psalm 100:3 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Romans 8:16 “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Galatians 3:26 “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.”

As “moms” in the animal kingdom, love their young – they’re children; so does God love us. Luke 12:6-7 tells us that God does not forget to provide for even one of the smallest lives on earth, the sparrow… and that He values us immensely more than the sparrow.

God’s love for us is astonishing; “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4:9-10

This Lenten season; let us atone for our sins, turn to Jesus. Learn to love, nurture and teach others the Good News of Jesus Christ.

The Ministry of Reconciliation – II Corinthians 5:17-21

Most religions revolve around one central idea – pleasing a god, appeasing or making a god happy. That appeasing can occur in many different ways depending on the religion: morality, holding to certain rules or religious practices, ceremonies, and keeping rules.

Christianity is the exact opposite. Where false religion is man doing whatever is necessary to appease a god, Christianity is GOD doing whatever was required through Christ on our behalf. Man-centered focus versus God-centered focus.

Verses 18-19 of today’s Scripture tells us all things are from God who reconciled us to Himself through Christ. The ministry of reconciliation TO God is centered IN God – initiated by Him, accomplished by Him, controlled by Him.

Romans 3:23 tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death.

But God is a loving, merciful, saving God. In Genesis 3, right after the curse of sin came the promise of a Redeemer. What man could not do, God did through Christ.

II Corinthians 17-19 tells us this. Christian salvation is not about us or our ability, it is totally about Jesus Christ.

He was the sacrifice at Calvary for our sin. He died in our place, was our substitution. And He was judged in our place. All who do not trust God’s provision for forgiveness through Christ will experience the eternal wrath of God.

But in Christ, we are made new! And we aren’t just saved…we’re saved with a divine purpose. God works through us to call the lost world to repentance and Hope.

Simply trust by faith what God has provided through Jesus:

You are a sinner in need of a Savior Jesus died in your place

Jesus bore your sin

Jesus endured the wrath of God for you

And, rising from the grave, He broke the bond of sin and death once for all.

Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt

Our new ladies ensemble brought our special music this morning, “My Lord is with me all the Time”.

Dr. Randy McWhorter and his wife Lou were with us this morning. Dr. McWhorter is an OBGYN physician who recently retired after more than 40 years in practice. They have felt the call to be missionaries to expectant mothers in Honduras, a poor but beautiful country in Central America. They show proper care to the mothers and show God‘s love in their love for them. They have four two-week clinics each year. In caring for the mothers, they first present the gospel and pray with them. Then there is a medical clinic, followed by a special day where they are given gifts, love, prayer and are pampered. Some, who have a difficult pregnancy are put in the private system so they will have proper care.

Bro. Bubba then spoke, reminding us that we all have a mission field. As we go through life that field may change as our life situations change. We may be working or retired. Whatever our situation, we are commanded to witness, Matthew.28: 19-20.

News: Brenda Pace

We can be victorious in our lives, no matter what a day may bring! Psalm 23 begins with The LORD is my Shepherd. As Christians, we see HE has gotten us through so much. In the conclusion of Psalm 23, we are reminded Surely Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my life … We can look back on our lives and see the ‘hand of God’, through bad days and good, as HE was moving us to where we are today. In His Goodness, we know all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose – Romans 8:28. In time we can see heavy burdens become greatest blessings.

Mercy reveals God’s compassion. Psalm 51:1 – Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. We are sinners said by Grace. Mercy has always been there for us. God’s tender Mercy is still leading and protecting us, in spite of us, because of His compassion.

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD – and we will have a permanent Home with God in Heaven, FOREVER – Psalm 23:6. This is a promise for everyone, who has recognized they are a sinner, have asked God’s forgiveness, and asked Him to come into their heart to save them from their sins. Every ‘Born-Again’ Child of God! If you have not done this, why not TODAY?
