    Celebrations… weddings, anniversaries,
    babies, birthdays and
    last week Veterans Day.
Veterans Day is a Federal holiday
    that honors the men and
    women who have served in
    our Armed Forces (The US
    Marines, The Us Navy, The
US Air Force, The US Coast
    Guard, The National Guard
    and The US Space Force).
    These men and women are
    being followed by others who,
    like them, would lay down
their lives to protect us… you
    and me. John 15:13 “Greater
love has no one than this, that
someone lay down his life for
    his friends.”
    These courageous people can
    be categorized as selfless vs
    self-serving. Question: Do you
    know of someone else who
    “fits this bill”? Answer: Yes!
    Christ Jesus, of course!
    1 John 3:16-18“By this we
know love, that He laid down
His life for us, and we ought
to lay down our lives for the
    brothers. But if anyone has
the world’s goods and sees his
brother in need, yet closes his
    heart against him, how does
God’s love abide in him? Little
children, let us not love in
word or talk but in deed and
    in truth.” Speaking literally,
    we need not necessarily “lay
down our lives” for one another.
    BUT, we are commanded to
love and serve each other – to
    “love in deed and truth.
Luke 22:26 “As each has received
a gift, use it to serve
    one another, as good stewards
    of God’s varied grace.” Luke
    22:27 “For who is greater,
the one who is at the table or
the one who serves? But I am
among you as one who serves.”
    True honor in God’s kingdom
is not found in power or position
    but in humble service.
    This verse calls believers to
    imitate Christ’s humility, placing
    others before themselves.
    Serving others aligns our hearts
    with the example of Christ,
who came not to be served but
to serve. Joshua 24:15 “But as
for me and my household, we
will serve the Lord.” Given all
    that we’ve just read (learned);
    isn’t it wonderful knowing that
    God “restores us” and gives
    us peace through our ‘good
    works’.. through service to
    others? Proverbs 11:25 “A
    generous person will prosper;
    whoever refreshes others will
    be refreshed.”
    Coming into this Thanksgiving
season, let us all renew our giving/
    serving spirit. Let us look
to the needs of others. Let us
be grateful that we are able to
please our Lord and Savior by
    following His example and His
    commandments.
1 John 4:11 “Beloved, if God
so loved us, we also ought to
    love one another.” John 13:34
    “A new commandment I give
to you, that you love one another:
just as I have loved you,
you also are to love one another.”

In Acts 25:1-12, we see the
continued hatred of the Jews towards
    the Apostle Paul and his
    gospel message. Even though it
has been about two years since
Paul has been in the public eye,
the Jews still want him dead!
    Why did the Jewish people
hate Paul so much? It was
    Satan’s attempt to hinder the
spread of the gospel; the world
    vs. God; darkness vs. light.
    Religions, including the
    Jewish religion, are systems
    put into place by men
    to promote themselves before
God or a god. The Jewish
    religion, and all religions
    in general, hate Christianity
    because it speaks the Truth.
    Christianity is the only religion
    hated by the entire
world, and by all other religions.
    Christianity proclaims
    Christ as The Way, excluding
    all other ways to God.
    The Jews perceived Paul’s message
    of salvation through belief
in Christ alone as a confrontation.
    But Paul was actually loving
    them, loving them enough
to risk his life over and over
again telling that we are saved
by grace through faith in Jesus.
    True Christianity recognizes
    our own unworthiness
    and the necessities of God’s
    mercy and grace. And the
world then -and now – hates
the idea that it is unworthy.
We all want to be liked and
loved by others. But the Word
of God says the world will
    hate the Christian because
    the world hated His Son.
As we evaluate our lives today
    in light of Paul’s life,
how does the world view us?

    Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
    Jerry Mac brought our special
    music this morning, the touching
    “Didn’t I Walk on Water”.
    Bro. Bubba’s message
    was. “Influences”. Galatians
    5: 16-18. An
influencer is a person who has
power over you. With AI, social
    media and other technology,
    it is challenging to protect
    ourselves and family from people
    who want to convince us
one way or the other. We must
    be diligent. The Holy Spirit
influences the lost to be saved.
Satan tries to distract. All people
    are God‘s creation. Not
all are God‘s children, only the
saved . They are adopted into
    God‘s family. The Holy Spirit
    dwells within a Christian,
though we can still be tempted
by Satan to sin. 1). Influencers
    off Hell. Ezekiel
    28: 13-19. Satan was the
    Archangel of music in heaven.
    He rebelled against God,
and was cast out with 1/3 of
    the angels who followed him.
    Those angels are now Satan‘s
    demons. He knows where he
will go in the end. He is trying
    to hurt God by tempting
his children to sin and the lost
    from being saved. Satan has
power on earth, but only what
    God allows. Satan appears
as beautiful. He is smart and
    powerful. Even the saved can
    be tempted. 2) Influences
    of heaven. John : 16:
    8-11. The Holy Spirit
    only tells the truth. Flesh,
our old sin nature, battles the
    Holy Spirit. When judgment
comes our good deeds are not
weighed on a balance to outweigh
    the bad. The only way
we can live in heaven with
Jesus is to be covered by his
    blood. Sunday evening,
November 23, 6 PM is the Annual
    Community Thanksgiving
    Service at Liberty Baptist
    Church in Linville. Judge
    Jay McCallum will bring the
    message. Brother Mike Freeman
    will lead the music. Join

Philippians 4:11-13 – Not that
I speak in regard to need, for
I have learned in whatever
state I am, to be content… As
Thanksgiving approaches, let
us ask ourselves, ‘Are we really
thankful for what God has
given us’? Thanksgiving can
be summed up in contentment.
The Apostle Paul was content
no matter the circumstances.
He had to grow to that point.
Paul went from a Pharisee
among Pharisees, etc. to being
at times, imprisoned, beaten,
etc. He had to learn to be content,
which is not always easy.
There is always something in
which to complain. With Jesus
in our lives, we can be content.
Sadly, there are those, who are
only happy if they are not content.
Hopefully, they are ready
for a change.
To be content is to be satisfied
no matter what – sickness,
loneliness, etc. I know how
to be abased, and I know how
to abound. Everywhere and in
all things I have learned both to
be full and to be hungry, both
to abound and to suffer need.
Whatever happens, we should
accept what life offers, praising
God in the valleys as well as on
the mountains in our life.
As Christians, we are blessed,
but are we content with those
blessings? There are some
with so much less than what
we have, yet they are content
with what God has given them.
We can be content, if we have
Jesus in our heart. I can do
all things through Christ who
strengthens me. When Jesus
is all we have, we find HE is
all we really need. The secret
is having Jesus in your heart as
Savior.
