There are times when only
God’s word will do. In worldly
times like these, we must spend
more time in Scripture. We
must immerse ourselves in it –
take it to heart and live it! “Do
not merely listen to the word,
and so deceive yourselves. Do
what it says.” James 1:22
Did you notice the use of the
word time 3 times in the first 2
sentences? We may not have
much more of it. “But of that
day or hour no one knows, not
even the angels in heaven, nor
the Son, but the Father alone.”
Mark 13:32 That Day may be
nearer than we think: “…understanding
the present time: The
hour has already come for you
to wake up from your slumber,
because our salvation is
nearer now than when we first
believed.” Romans 13:11
We must be ready/get ready to
spend our eternal lives in heaven.
Only by God’s grace we
will be there. But if we live our
lives “as the world lives”, we
assuredly Will Not be granted
that grace. “Do not conform to
the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of
your mind.” Romans 12:2
“Draw near to God, and He
will draw near to you.” James
4:8 As said, the best way to
draw near to God is to spend
time with Him: in prayer and
in His written word. “For everything
that was written in
the past was written to teach
us, so that through the endurance
taught in the Scriptures
and the encouragement they
provide, we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 “All Scripture is
God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting
and training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16 “For the word
of God is alive and active.
Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to
dividing soul and spirit, joints
and marrow; it judges the
thoughts and attitudes of the
heart.” Hebrews 4:12
“Praise be to the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and
the God of all comfort.” 2 Corinthians
1:3-4 The moment
we received Jesus as Christ
as our Savior, the Holy Spirit
came to live in our hearts.
The Holy Spirit teaches us and
takes us deeper into God’s truth
as we go along in our Christian
life. John 16:13 “When the
Spirit of truth comes, he will
guide you into all the truth,
for he will not speak on his
own authority, but whatever he
hears he will speak, and he will
declare to you the things that
are to come.”
Acts 20:28 “Pay careful attention
to yourselves and to all
the flock, in which the Holy
Spirit has made you overseers,
to care for the church of God,
which he obtained with his
own blood.”

Pastoral Passion”. II Corinthians
7: 2-

  1. The apostle Paul
    was addressing the church at
    Corinth. There were many
    problems in the church.
Corinth was a very sinful, corrupt
    city. As people were saved
    and brought into the church,
they really didn’t know how to
    live. Paul was speaking boldly
    to them about the problems
    in the church, while letting
    them know how very much
he loved them. He was even
willing to die for them that
they might know Jesus and live
    godly lives. He realizes how
very blessed he was to Pastor
    these people .
    1) Unconditional Devotion.
    II Corinthians.7: 2-7.
    Paul wrote and spoke some
very bold and tough things to
them. He loved them. He planted
    this church and thought of
them as his children. He did
not want to see them give up
and go back into the world of
    sin and immorality. Discipline
    was necessary.
    2) Weathered Warrior.
    II Corinthians.7:
    2-4. Some in the church
did not like the way Paul spoke
to them, but he felt he had to
    tell them the truth.
They did not like being told of
their sins. There are always the
    faithful who will encourage the
    weathered warrior. He was also
comforted by the arrival of his
    friend and coworker, Titus.
    We need to always encourage
    those who are willing and
    working to further and mentor
    God‘s church. 3). Joyful
    Journey. II Corinthians.
    7: 7. P a u l
and others in the church rejoiced
    when those living in
    sinful situations repented. It
    was a growth experience for
    the church through some tough
    discipline . Be an encourager
    when pastors and teachers
    work so hard
to lead the church to growth in
the Lord Jesus Christ. The Annual
    Community Thanksgiving
Service will be at Liberty Baptist
    Church, Sunday evening,
November 23, at 6 PM. Judge
    Jay McCallum will bring the
    message and Brother Mike
    Freeman will lead the music.

How affective are your
prayers? Do you sometimes
feel like you have been put on
‘hold’? Jesus taught us how we
should pray. Matthew 6:5-13 –
And when you pray, you shall
not be like the hypocrites (to be
seen by men) … go into your
room … pray to your Father
who is in the secret place; and
your Father who sees in secret
will reward you openly. Jesus
is not condemning public
prayer; Prayer should be a part
of every meeting. HE is saying,
we should not be praying as to
be seen by others, as though no
one is on the other end. When
one prays in ‘secret’, they are
praying from the heart; just
you and God. Are we taking
time to pray?
When we pray, we should not
say the same prayer over and
over. We should speak to God
from our heart. The sincerity of
our prayers is what is important
to God. God already knows
what we have need of before
we pray. So why pray? HE
commands us to pray and when
we ask anything in His Name,
we are showing we know HE
can meet our needs according
to His Will.
Speaking as a child to their
father, we begin our prayers
with praise. We then bring our
requests to Him, believing HE
can meet our needs. We ask His
forgiveness for sins we have
committed, as well as forgiving
others who have wronged
us – Matthew 6:14-15. And we
ask God’s Power to deliver us
from evil. Our only protection
is found in prayer, as well as
our deliverance from sins and
temptations. Then, we can
walk with God.
