Memorial services for Mr. Donald Wayne Parks, age 77 of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2024 at Spencer Baptist Church with Bro. Mickey Manning officiating, under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. A Masonic Funeral Service will be conducted by the Farmerville Lodge.
Mr. Donald was born August 11, 1946 in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away March 18, 2024 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Linville High School and retired from International Paper Company in Mansfield as Wood Yard Supervisor and a Heavy Machine Operator. Brother Parks started his Masonic Career in Louisiana on October 21, 1996 as an entered apprentice, passed to a fellowcraft on December 9, 1996 and raised to a master mason on April 4, 1997 at Union Fraternal Lodge #53 in Farmerville, LA., he also joined the Scottish Rite & became a 32nd Degree Mason, along with that he joined Farmerville chapter #207, Order of the Eastern Star and joined the Barak Shrine to help the children. He stayed very active in masonry, even when he relocated to TX. Upon his return to Louisiana, he was very involved with his local Lodge (Union Fraternal) and was honored to be the master of the lodge in 2002, also he was active in the Shrine & Order of the Eastern Star. Through his Masonic career he made many friends & will be missed by all.
Mr. Parks was a Deacon and was a member of the Spencer Baptist Church, of which he was a very active. An avid wood worker who loved to fish, he spent countless hours of his life in service to others. He loved his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy Gates Parks and Earl Parks, one brother Larry Parks, and his former wife and mother of his children, Dianne Peters Parks.
He is survived by his daughter: Donna Parks, Son: Wayne Parks (Connie), brother: Pete Parks; grandchildren, Crystal Crecink, (J.), Chase Wells (Samantha), and David Parks (Shelby); great grandchildren, Isabella Wells, Dakota Wells, Mason Wells, and Willow Crecink; a number of nieces and nephews; many special friends from the Eastern Star, and The Masonic Lodge and his church family. The family would like to acknowledge the Staff and nursing at St. Joseph Assisted Living in Monroe helped him to spend his last moments knowing he was loved by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM prior to the service, Friday, March 22, 2024 at Spencer Baptist Church.
