Today we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Nelda Gay Williams, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Nelda and her husband Roy were in the poultry and cattle business for many years and raised their children here in Spearsville, Louisiana. They were devoted to each other and between them had nine children, “mine, yours and ours” as Nelda would proudly say. Earlier in her life, Nelda worked in the private sector and she and Roy traveled with the children, living away as Roy worked pipeline construction before settling down to the farm life. Nelda and Roy raised their children in the church, instilling traditional values of work ethic and respect for property and others, but most important, solid Christian values.

Nelda enjoyed spending time with er children and extended family and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Nelda Gay ( as her brothers called her) loved going to Branson, Missouri most years with her cousins, in laws, and brothers; and until not able to, she loved working her garden in the the spring, raising tomatoes, butter beans, and peppers. She very much enjoyed sitting on her patio watching her humming birds, her martins, and the children play. Nelda was known by many names, “MaMa”, “Mother”, “Mom”, “MeeMaw”, “Mimi”, with and “I”, “MeMe” with an “E”, and “MeeMee”, with two “E’s”. Roy called her “Nell” and “Miss Kitty”. She was loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
