Ruston, and Jordan Lee Atwell, of Lewisport, Ky., were united in holy matrimony in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony Oct. 5 at Temple Baptist Church.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Tony and Marlene Young, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Young, of Wisner, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McAdams, of Ruston, and the late Betty McAdams.
Jordan is the son of Barry and Penny Atwell, of Lewisport, Ky. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Atwell, of Cloverport, Ky., and the late Joseph and Katherine Chappell.
The bride, given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, wore a strapless diamond white taffeta satin gown with re-embroidered lace sparkles, crystal beading, rhinestones, pearls and sequins. Taffeta and net flowers enhanced the natural waist with covered buttons cascading down the chapel length train. She wore a mid-length veil finished with pearls and crystals and carried a bouquet of soft peach Piaget garden roses with a galax leaf collar.
Serving the bride as maids of honor were Marny Young, sister of the bride, of Ruston, and Marisa Estes, of Farmerville. Serving as bridesmaids were Lauren Fuller, of Ruston, Jessica Handy, of Baton Rouge, and Maranda Young, of Baton Rouge.
Each bridesmaid wore a lovely mocha colored satin cocktail length dress with crisscross bodice and sweetheart neckline and carried a bouquet combination of roses, stock, garden roses, carnations and star of Bethlehem flowers in shades of peach, green and white.
Serving the groom as best man was Chris Snyder, of Lewisport, Ky. Serving as groomsmen were Daniel Young, brother of the bride, of Denver, Co., Jered Patrick, of Russellville, Ky., Wes Pate, of Lewisport, Ky., and Michael Young, of Baton Rouge.
Ushers for the ceremony were Jonathan Abernathy, of Ruston, Daniel Alexander, of Ruston, Logan Blackwell, of Arcadia, Nathaniel Jennings, of West Monroe, John Gleason, of Ruston, and Jed Walpole, of Ruston.
The flower girl for the ceremony was Brooklynn Bissell, of Ruston. Ring bearer for the ceremony was Mason Ray Young, nephew of the bride and of Ruston.
Book and program attendants were Addie Crosby, of Shreveport, Corky Adams, of West Monroe, Jenny Garner, of Shreveport, and Jordan Ward, of Shreveport. Scripture reader was T. Lusk of Baton Rouge.
Florist for the wedding was June Jennings, aunt of the bride.
Music was provided by Margie Hearn, pianist and of Ruston, Chris Albritton, of Ruston, on the guitar, and Ann Sorensen, of Ruston, on the violin.
A reception was held following the wedding at the Ropp Center on the Louisiana Tech University campus and was hosted by the bride’s parents. The reception was catered by Aramark.
A rehearsal dinner was held on Oct. 4 hosted by Barry and Penny Atwell, parents of the groom, at the home of Jerri and David Abernathy.
Prior to the wedding several showers were held for the couple.
On Aug. 11 a miscellaneous shower was held at Temple Baptist Church. It was hosted by Jerri Abernathy, Karen Sanders, Linda Spivey, Liz Hood, Marny Young, Cheryl Williams, Diana Humphries, Pam Jones, Angel Causey, Denise Stinson, Denise Cox, Kim Gardner, Laura Davis, Nelda Neal, Kristen Bissell and Cindy Kranz.
A shower was held Sept. 14 at the home of Dana and Marisa Estes in Farmerville. The shower was hosted by Dana Estes, Marisa Estes, Donna Hood, Lauren Fuller, Pat Terral, Donna Ward and the late Margaret Estes.
A lingerie shower was held on Sept. 28 at the home of Marny Young. It was hosted by Marny Young, Marisa Estes, Jessica Handy, Maranda Young, and Lauren Fuller.
A bridal tea party was held Sept. 28 to honor the bridesmaids at the home of Dorothy Young of Wisner. The party was hosted by Dorothy Young, Louise McAdams, Leslie Young, June Jennings and Louise Murphy.
A church family shower was held Oct. 20 at the Grove Campus of Istrouma Baptist Church in Prairieville. The shower was hosted by T. and Rebecca Lusk and Ben and Danielle Andre.
A miscellaneous church shower was held Nov. 15 at Lewisport Baptist Church in Lewisport, Ky. The shower was hosted by Penny and Barry Atwell and Kathy and Gene Rice.
After a honeymoon on the coast of Maine, the couple spent two months in Baton Rouge, and are now making their home in Dayton, Ohio.
