Eula Lazenby (11-28-2013)
Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Toms Lazenby, age 93, of Bernice, La were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, La with Bro. Kurt Auger officiating. Interment followed in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Bernice. Mrs. Lazenby died on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Farmerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Farmervile, La, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Lazenby was born on September 19, 1920 in the Friendship Community of Bienville Parish. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church and later, Mt. Patrick Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She was affectionately known as “Mamaw” by the grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.G. Lazenby; her parents, James Thomas Toms and Mary Kirkham Toms; her three brothers, Ernest Toms, Floyd Toms and Elmer Ray Toms; two sisters, Vernie Jordan and Vera Bridges; and twin great grandsons, Matthew Charles and Michael David Hammons. Mrs. Lazenby is survived by one daughter, Sue Futch and husband, Joe of Spearsville, LA; two sons, Mike Lazenby and wife, Janet of Downsville, LA; Jerry Lazenby and wife, Christine of West Monroe, LA; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Volentine and Jewel Aldy; and a host of relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Gray Lazenby, David Porter Lazenby, Billy Forbis III, William Beebe, Randy Hammons, Mark Hammons, Johnny Roberts, Jerome Wilson and Chance Canterberry. Honorary pallbearers were Dusty Roberts, Trevor Hammons, Jeffery Lazenby, Jr. and Colby Gosdin.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Bernice and Farmerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers, St. Joseph Hospice and her lifelong friend and physician, Dr. Brian Harris, for their care, compassion and kindness to our mother during her time with them.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Visitation was from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday. Online messages for the family may be left at farrarfuneralhomeonline.com.
