George H. Rogers (05-16-2013)
Funeral services for Mr. George Henry Rogers, 84, of Farmerville, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Reeves and Bro. Scott Jennings officiating. Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery near Farmerville. Arrangements were under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mr. Rogers, a retired operator with IMC, passed away May 10, 2013. He was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church and an avid fisherman. Mr. Rogers honorably served in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Sarah Rogers; 3 brothers: Bill, Gene & James Rogers; 2 sisters: Edna Mae Powell and Honor B. Redden; son, Jarvis Rogers; son-in-law, Milas Parker, Jr.; and nephew, Roger Colvin.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Ruby Garris Rogers; 2 daughters: Colleen Parker and Vickie Deason and husband, Lonnie; 1 daughter-in-law, Denise Rogers, all of Farmerville; 1 sister, Marie Colvin & husband Abbie, of Dubach; 5 granchildren: Andree’ Parker Hall (Joshua), Channing Nolan (Alicia), Timothy Parker (Chancy), Heath Rogers (Katie) and Nathan Deason; 8 great grandchildren: Ethan, Eli, Hallie, Lucas, Austin, Peyton, Garrett and Brayden; and numerous other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Billy Garris, Kenny Garris, Tom Garris, Scotty Aulds, Jimmy Aulds and Mark Dodd. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.
