His love for the outdoors and animals led Billy to follow in his father’s footsteps as a Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries officer. He managed the Union Wildlife Management Area in Union Parish until his retirement from the Department. During his years with the agency, Billy’s passion for cooking was often shared with his fellow officers and friends.
Billy’s greatest pastime was hunting with his wife, Patsy. Billy and Patsy shared a healthy competition of who was the best hunter in the family. Billy would always say he let her win.
Billy loved sharing the holidays and Sundays with family and friends – especially Christmas fireworks with his son Richard; brothers-in-law Larry, Bobby, Billy, Terry and nephews. Sunday and holiday dining with family gathered around brought great joy to Billy. One of Billy’s most cherished memories was of his beloved pet of 15 years, Little Bit.
