Sister Ruther Louise Darby Page was born on December 31, 1919 in Farmerville, Louisiana to Ruther Hendricks and Frank Darby who preceded her in death. She departed this earthly life after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Union General Hospital in Farmerville, Louisiana.

She confessed Christ at an early age at Zion Hill Baptist Church where she was raised and attended school. She served faithfully as an Usher, President of the Mission Band, Sunday School Teacher of Class #2, and a member of the Kitchen Committee. She truly loved her church and attended regularly until her health began to fail.

In her early years she was a housekeeper and cook. She was a great cook and wanted to feed everybody in the community. Her home was always open to give anyone that came by a meal.

She was blessed to have ten wonderful children, many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by only one son, James “Big Bud” Ellison; one grandson, Dennis Ray Hatter; four sisters and three brothers.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories three sons; Emmitt Mitchell (Mary) of Detroit, Michigan; Charles Woods (Doris) of Farmerville, Louisiana; and Alvin Page (Tammi) of Dallas, Texas. Six daughters; Lue Ruth “Sandy” Page, Ruby Nell Cook, Johnnie Louise “Jackie” Ellison, Marilyn Holly (Earl), Brenda “Bren” Harden (Warren) all of Farmerville, Louisiana; and Claudine Hatter of Mesquite, Texas. One loving and devoted sister; Joan Jones of Farmerville, Louisiana. Two brothers; Lonnie “Buster” Darby (Verda Mae) of Farmerville, Louisiana and Elma Darby (Tina Ree) of Omaha, Nebraska. Twenty two grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren, twenty two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
