Irvin Baker Albritton,
age 87, went to be
with his Lord on Thursday,
October 12, 2017.
Visitation was from
12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday,
October 14, 2017, at
Owens Memorial Chapel
followed by a graveside
service at 2 p.m. at
Greenwood Cemetery
in Ruston. Dr. Reggie
Bridges officiated.
Baker, or “P.B. or Papaw
Baker” as he was
affectionately called by
his grandchildren and
great grandchildren,
was born on December
7, 1929, in Farmerville.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; Irvin
“I.G.” Albritton and Anna May Taylor Albritton; his
wife of 28 years, Dorothy McCarter Albritton; and his
daughter, Dedra King.
He is survived by: His sister, Ann Albritton Kyle
and husband James, of Whitehouse, Texas; son, Darin
Albritton, of Dallas, Texas; two stepsons – Greg McCarter
and wife Suzanne of Ruston and Don McCarter and
wife Melea of Houma; stepdaughter, Susan McCarter
Kennedy and husband Buddy, of Sachse, Texas; as well
as 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He served over 17 years in the US Navy and reserves
as a hospital corpsman and lab technician, including
one stint aboard the USS Hoquiam, a Tacoma-class
patrol frigate. A longtime resident of Ruston, Mr.
Albritton retired from working in the plant maintenance
department at Lincoln General Hospital in 1997.
He spent the next 13 years enjoying his retirement by
perfecting his woodcrafting skills and enjoying his time
with “Miss Dottie” and their dog, Skoshi. His family
loved him and will greatly miss him.
