Sherry Hamilton Boyd (10-05-2017)

Services for Mrs. Sherry Hamilton Boyd of Downsville,
La. were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September
30, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Farmerville with
Rev. Kurt Auger officiating and Ronnie Parks as song
director. Interment followed at the Downsville Cemetery
under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of
Farmerville.
Mrs. Boyd was born on August 14, 1960, and passed
away on September 28, 2017.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Farmerville. She graduated from Louisiana Tech
University. She taught school in Union Parish for 21
years, the majority of which was spent at her beloved
Downsville High School. After leaving Union Parish,
she took a job in Lincoln Parish as a coordinator and
eventually became the elementary supervisor of Lincoln
Parish Schools. Her greatest joy was in helping
others, whether it be her family, friends, students,
teachers or co-workers.
She was preceded in death by: Her father, Joseph
Jackson Hamilton, Jr.
Survivors include: Her husband of 33 years, Danny
Boyd; a son, Dan Boyd and friend Lauren Turner; mother,
Ann Hamilton; sister, Susan Hamilton White and
husband, Mike; brother-in-law Marty Boyd and wife,
Sissy; sister-in-law Robbie Boyd; three nieces Stacie
White, Beth Zachry and husband Erik, Ginger Barkley
and husband Brad; a nephew, Patrick White; three great
nieces Alyssa and Aubrey Zachry and Abbie and Faith
Barkley; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Don McClanahan, Donnie Gates,
Jay Yelton, John Johnson, Greg Kirk and Ricky Edmiston.
Honorary Pallbearers were H.P. Roberts, Steve
Richardson, Betty Tettleton, Corky Crane, Women of
Adult 2 Sunday School Class, Paula Pardue, Mary Null,
Lisa Mangum, and all of her dearly loved former students
and co-workers.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday,
September 29, 2017, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel
in Farmerville. In lieu of flowers, please give to your
favorite charity.
