87, of Farmerville were
held at 1 p.m. on Saturday,
July 8, 2017, in the chapel
of Farrar Funeral Home
with Rev. Kurt Auger and
Rev. Dave Permenter officiating.
Burial followed in
Grand Cane Cemetery in
Grand Cane, La., under the
direction of Farrar Funeral
Home in Farmerville.
Billye Faye Cook Herring
was born December
14, 1929, in Grand Cane and
went to be with our Heavenly
Father on July 4, 2017,
surrounded by family and
friends in Farmerville, La.
She graduated from Grand Cane High School and attended
L.S.U. from 1946 to 1948. On November 11, 1950, she
married the love of her life, Alfred “Bo” Herring. Shortly
afterwards, she followed him to Honolulu, where he was
stationed in the U.S. Navy. They came back to Louisiana
where daughter, Susan, was born in 1957 while Bo attended
Louisiana College in Pineville. In 1961, son Craig was born
while Bo was coaching in Springhill. Billye and Bo landed
in Farmerville where he coached and Billye retired as a
social worker for the State of Louisiana.
She was a loving wife to Bo for 60 years when he passed
in 2011, a loving mother to Susan and Craig, and grandmother
to Sarah Ashley.
She is survived by: Her daughter, Susan Herring David
and husband Randy; son Craig Herring; one granddaughter,
Sarah Ashley Koeninger; four siblings – Lodwrick M.
Cook of Los Angeles, Sarah Cook Mitchell of Hammond,
William Huckabay Cook and wife Joyce of Grand Cane;
and a host of loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and
nephews.
Visitation was scheduled held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday,
July 7, 2017, at Farrar Funeral Home.The family would like to thank her wonderful friend
and care giver, Doris Fields, nurse, Jennia Adams of La.
Hospice and all of the wonderful staff at Arbor Rose for
the care they gave her.
