Funeral services for
Alston R. Gray Sr., 61, of
Spearsville were held at
3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9,
2017, at Camp Creek Baptist
Church with Rev. Buddy
Boatright, Rev. Robert E.
Lee and Rev. Joe Floyd
Thomas officiating. Burial
was at Camp Creek Cemetery
under the direction
of Farrar Funeral Home in
Mr. Gray, a small engine
mechanic, went to his
heavenly home May 3, 2017.
He was a loving husband,
father, and grandfather
and was a member of Camp
Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Joan Lowery
and Maynard Gray; stepfather Liston Lowery, and a
brother, Patrick Michael Gray.
Left to cherish his memory is: His wife of 40 years,
Ruby J. Gray; three sons – Thomas Alston Gray and wife
Nicole of Mechanicsville, Va., Alston R. Gray Jr. and wife
Amber of El Dorado, and Fred George Gray of Spearsville;
four brothers – Jim Gray and wife Cheryl of Truxno,
Robert Slayton and wife Judy of Truxno, Ricky Slayton
of Truxno, David Lowery and wife Debbie of Monroe and
William Gray of Wisconsin; a sister, Marie Gray Lotta and
husband Jeff of Beloit, Wisc.; three grandchildren – Juston
McKinney, Lillian Holubik and Nicole Raine Holubik;
as well as various nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Matt Sharp, Josh Sharp, John Rhodes,
James McAdams, Robert E. Lee and Eric Sumner. Honorary
pallbearers were Robbie Sharp, Joe Floyd Thomas
and Jake Sharp.
Visitation was from 5-8p p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017,
at Farrar Funeral Home.
