Funeral services for Mr.
Lester Sherman Parks 86,
of Sterlington, LA will be
held at 10 a.m. on Thursday,
March 9, 2017, at Spencer
Baptist Church, in Spencer.
Officiating will be Bro. David
Richmond, Bro. Jerry
Fletcher, and Bro. J.R.Wells.
Visitation will be held
from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday,
March 8, 2017, at the
church. Interment will follow
in Liberty at Linville
Cemetery under direction
of Kilpatrick Funeral Home
of Farmerville.
Mr. Parks was born on
November 15, 1930 in Spencer, and passed away on
March 5, 2017, at his home. He was retired at 55 from
the International Paper plant and was a veteran in the
U.S. Navy, serving on the submarine USS Trumpetfish.
Mr. Parks was a member of Spencer Baptist Church,
Ten Mile Creek Hunter Club, loved hunting, fishing,
gardening and especially his dog, Dinky II.
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Lester
and Edna Parks two brothers – Earl Parks and John
Elzi Parks and two sisters – Casile “Polly” Parks, and
Foots Labrano.
He is survived by: His wife Mabel Silmon Parks of
Sterlington; four children – Lester Stephen Parks, Jerry
Wayne Parks and wife Gwen of West Monroe, Toni
Brakefield of Bastrop and Jeffery Todd Brashier and
wife Kristi of Whitewright, Texas; 10 grandchildren
and numerous great-grandchildren; and two nephews
- Don and Wanda Parks of Kirbyville, Texas and Pete
and Fara Parks of Spencer.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Albritton, Eddie Hunter,
Gary Tubbs, Phillip Powell, Tyler Powell, and Andrew
Memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church.
