Helen LaRue Ulmer Roach (03-24-2016)
Funeral services for Helen LaRue Ulmer Roach, 92, were
held at 2 p.m. On Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Bernice
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Adkins
officiating. Burial followed in Weldon Cemetery under the
direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
Mrs. Roach, a homemaker, went to her heavenly home
March 20, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Bernice and a
member of Bernice United Methodist Church. Mrs. Roach
enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, flowers, birds,
working with her husband in the cattle business and keeping
her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and was
known for her pecan pies and worked with the Council on
Aging in Bernice. During World War II, she was proud to
work in the Shell Plant serving her country.
She was preceded in death by: Her loving husband of 46
years, Van R. Roach Sr.; parents, Enos and Marie Ulmer;
a son, Dennis Lane Roach; and a brother, Ralph Ulmer.
Left to cherish her memory is: Her son, Dickie Roach
and wife Cheryl of Jonesboro; two daughters Connie
Roach Pope and husband Norman of Stonewall and Janis
Roach Neel of Doyline; a brother, Laddie Ulmer of Minden;
two sisters, Yvonne Hoffoss of Minden and Betty Sutton
of Bossier City; six grandchildren Bryn Gouge, Jamie
Rigsby, Tim Pope, Ryan Rigsby, Nikki Blondin and Travis
Frasier; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at First United
Methodist Church of Bernice.
