Brandon, Miss.
Visitation was held from
12-1:45 p.m. on Monday, February
8, 2016, at Ott & Lee
Funeral Home in Brandon.
Funeral services followed
at 2 p.m., with burial at the
Crestview Memorial Gardens
in Brandon.
Elaine was born on November
22, 1917 in Marion.
She attended Texas Women’s
University and Louisiana
State University, receiving
a degree of Bachelors
of Art. She also attended
Peabody College, where
she received her Master’s Degree and did graduate work
at University of Arkansas. Elaine began her career as a
high school teacher in Marion. She eventually moved to
Lake Charles, where she taught English at McNeese StateUniversity for 41 years.Traveling around the
world with her sister and
brother-in-law was a highlight
of her life. Elaine
cherished spending time
with family. Therefore, in
2003, she decided to move to
Brandon, to be closer to her
niece, Stephanie Daniels,
and her family.
She is survived by: Her
nieces and nephew – Stephanie
Daniels and husband
Noel of Brandon, Mark
Donnell and wife Brenda
of Jefferson City, Missouri,
Carol Wedeberg and husband
Jim of Shreveportand David Lankford and wife Barbara of Baton Rouge,
Elaine loved being close to her great nieces and great
nephews whom she considered as her grandchildren -
Amy Courtney and husband Michael of Jackson, Miss.,
Allison Ott and husband Karl of McComb, Miss., Annette
Phillips and husband Aaron of Virginia, David
Wedeberg and wife Allison of Dallas, Texas, Andrew
Wedeberg and wife Bethia of Shreveport and Brad
Wedeberg and wife Lee of Dallas, Texas; she is also survived
by her great-great nieces, and nephews – Daniel
and Caroline Courtney of Jackson, Miss., Emmy and
Clay Ott of McComb, Miss., Audrey and A. J. Phillips
of Virginia, Lucy and Anna Wedeberg of Dallas, Texas,
Drew, Mac, and Ford Wedeberg of Shreveport and William,
King, and Marion Wedeberg of Dallas, Texas.
In her final years, she had wonderful caretakers
whom she loved, including Fannie Haslett, Shirley
Leach, Vonda Wells, and Stella Thurman.
Elaine was preceded in death by: Her parents, L.J.
and Cora Jarmon; two sisters – Nelwyn Donnell and
Olalee Lankford; and two brothers in law, Charles Donnell
and K. D. Lankford.
