Funeral services for
Melton Gray Edwards,
Sr. 84, of Farmerville,
were held at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, August 25, 2015
at 10 a.m. at Salem Baptist
Church in Farmerville,
officiated by the
Rev. Aleck Nyegaard.
Interment followed Liberty
Taylor Cemetery
in Farmerville under
direction of Kilpatrick
Funeral Home.
He was born on August
8, 1932, and passed
away on August 22,
2015. Mr. Edwards was
a corporal in the United
States Army Engineering Battalion in Saalfeldan, Austria.
He was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church
and a deacon since 1975. He was also a member of Union
Fraternal Lodge No. 53 and a member of International
Union of Operating Engineers for 63 years.
He was preceded in death by: His wife Patricia Sims;
and a daughter, Cynthia Breed.
Survivors include: His children – Jennifer Bordelon
and husband Terry of Branson, Mo., Melton Gray Edwards
Jr. and wife Debra of Farmerville, Philip Taylor
Edwards and wife Missy of Pineville, Peggy Stracener
of West Monroe, Eric Alan Edwards of Springfi eld,
La.; 18 grandchildren – Emily Wilson, Sarah Bordelon,
Molly Bordelon, Cody Bordelon, Tyler Breed, Whitney
Johnson, Hunter Breed, Mel Edwards, Amy Edwards,
Blake Edwards, Allison Edwards, Taylor Edwards,
Travis Edwards, Kevin Stracener, Kylie Stracener,
Kole Stracener, Madeline Edwards, Bailey Edwards; 12
great-grandchildren; and sister Reba Albritton (Rex),
brother-in-law; LaJune Edwards (sister-in-law); Susan
Edwards (sister-in-law); fi ancé’ LaVerne Johns; as well
as numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, August 24,
2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.
