Soli was born April
10, 1927, in Stamford,
Neb., the oldest of four
daughters born to Dallas
Albie Fletcher and Lila
Irene (Bell) Fletcher. She
attended school in Stamford
and graduated from
Stamford High School
in 1944. After graduation
she worked at the
U.S. Naval Ammunitions
Depot in Hastings, Neb.,
where she met and married
LaMoine H. “Bill”
O’Donnell. Four children
were born to this
marriage – Robert Ray,
Kathleen Marie, Gary Danna and Laurie Jean. Kathleen
Marie died in infancy. Doris was baptized in the Christian
Church in Stamford in 1937 and later transferred
her membership to the Holley Christian Church in Sweet Home, Ore.
Bill worked on construction work most of his life, so
they lived in several states, including Nebraska, Oregon,
Washington, Michigan, Kentucky, Connecticut and California.
They returned to Sweet Home, Oregon and lived
there when he retired. Their marriage ended in divorce.
Doris later married Stanley A. Soli of Sweet Home on
March 20, 1975, and he died Jan. 1, 1999. After his death
she moved back to Alma and cared for her mother, Lila I.
Caley, until her death July 12, 2003.
Doris loved her family, her home and her work; she had
retired from the Sweet Home., Ore. School District where
she worked as an accountant for a number of years. She
also enjoyed traveling after her retirement.
She is preceded in death by: Her baby daughter in 1949;
her father in 1977; her husband Stan in 1999; her mother
in 2003; and sister Nona in 2011.
She leaves to mourn her passing: Two sons – Robert and
his wife Sheran and Gary and his wife Nittaya; daughter
Laurie Zook and her husband Virgil’ seven grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren; her sisters – Donna Mc-
Nelly and her husband Harold of Thebes, Ill. and Sharon
Fletcher of Thebes, IL, and several nieces, nephews and
many friends.
Doris passed away on June 26, 2015. A memorial service
will be planned at a later date.
