Jerusha ‘Jerry’ Thurston Brantley (03-26-2015)
Funeral services for Jerusha
“Jerry” Thurston Brantley,
85, were held at 11 a.m.
on Friday, March 20, 2015,
at Farrar Funeral Home in
Farmerville with Bro. Larry
White and Bro. Don Reeves
officiating. Burial followed at
Liberty Cemetery in Linville.
Mrs. Brantley, a homemaker,
went to her heavenly
home March 17, 2015. She
was a resident of Linville,
but lived in Farmerville for
the past nine years. She was
a former member of Haile
Church of Christ, and recently
of Wards Chapel Church
of Christ. Mrs. Brantley
loved spending time with
family and friends, watching
TV, listening to music and she enjoyed anything to do with
humming birds and cats.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents, James Sylvester
and Mary Frances Simpson Lunsford; husbands George
E. Thurston and Don Brantley; an infant son; two infant
grandchildren – Virgil Brantley II and Jesse Brantley; a
great granddaughter, MaKenzie Murphy; a sister, Nettie Mae
Tucker; and a brother-in-law James “Snapper” Thurston.
Left to cherish her memory are: Six children – Jeannie
Browning (E.T.) of Lake Charles, Cindy Brantley (Virgil) of
Linville, Steve Thurston (Carol) of Linville, Mike Thurston
of Linville, Frances Lee “Sissy” Thurston of Bossier City,
and Amy Thomas (Billy) of Spencer; two step-sons – Donnie
Brantley (Vicki) of Farmerville and Stan Brantley (Lynne)
of Huntingdon, Tenn.; a sister-in-Law, Rosemary Thurston; 15
grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren;
23 step-great grandchildren; nephews – Jay Thurston (Sandi),
Bill Thurston (Kaye) and Hank Thurston (Debbie) and Danny
Platt (Donna); nieces – Becky Hembree, Sue Pace (Stevie) and
Cheryl Harrison; lifelong friend:Ruth Parks Breedlove; very
special caregiver and friend: Rena Hauslcy; and many other
relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were her grandsons: Steven Thurston, Lance
Thomas, Jamey Thomas, B.J. Thomas, Eli Thomas and Tyler
Visitation was Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Farrar Funeral
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at
Arbor Rose, Northside Pharmacy, United Home Health Care,
Drs. Don Hammett, Ron Hammett, Shafiei and Islam; and Mrs.
Brantley’s sitters and caregivers.
