Oral Lee Kennedy (11-27-2014)
Funeral services for Mr. Oral Lee Kennedy, 81, of Farmerville were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Faith Baptist Church, located on Louisiana 15, with Bro. John Saunders and Bro. Dale Jordan officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery in Spearsville under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Mr. Kennedy, a repairman and meter reader for Ark-La Gas, went to his heavenly home November 16, 2014.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Chandler during the Korean conflict. He retired from Ark-LA Gas after many years of service, custom made guitars and fiddles, enjoyed making clocks and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He loved and served the Lord, taking time for over 20 years to visit and sing in the area nursing homes.
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Jim and Ada Kennedy; an infant daughter, Kimberly Kay Kennedy; sister Faye Saterfiel; four brothers – William “Toad” Kennedy, Babe Kennedy, Graham Kennedy and Glendele Kennedy. Left to cherish his memory is: His loving wife of 58 years, Lou Quincy Watson Kennedy of Farmerville; a sister, Charlene Kozlowski of Sidney, N.Y.; a number of nieces, nephews; special friends Paul and Gladys Wilhite, Ralph and Sharon Kilpatrick and the rest of the band of Strings for the Master; as well as a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Terry Rigdon, Danny Saterfiel, Erick Knox, Zachary Beaird, Michael Beaird, Johnny Rigdon and Mickey LaBeff. Honorary pallbearers were be the men of Faith Baptist Church.
Visitation was 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Farrar Funeral Home.
