Julian Keith “Buck” Parks (09-11-2014)
Photo of Julian Keith “Buck” ParksJulian Keith (Buck) Parks, 86, passed away after a lengthy illness on August 19, 2014, at his home in Farmerville, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 8, 1928, to the union of Jule and Verda Hay Parks, and was a lifelong resident of Union Parish.
Although he was employed for many years in the insurance and banking industry, his true passion was farming. He was happiest spending time on the Parks Farm acreage. After retirement, “Uncle Buck” was a much-loved employee at the dental offices of Dr. Tommy Ward, Dr. Vance Costello and Dr. Daniel Raymond.
He was preceded in death by: His beloved wife of 51 years, Loyce Wilson Parks, and son-in-law Randy Reid.
He is survived by: His daughters Dr. Judith Levy and husband Robert of Baton Rouge, Belinda Reid of Farmerville and Melanie Wester and husband Richard of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren Wesley McMurrian of Seattle, Wash., Derek Reid of Monroe, Dr. Claire Kappa and husband Dr. David Kappa of Durham, N.C., Blake Wester and Grace Wester of Asheville, N.C.; step-grandchildren Brian Levy of New Orleans and Dr. Robin Levy of Baton Rouge; and great grandson William Parks Kappa and step great grandchildren Ben, Caro, and Cecilia Bookman. He is also survived by his “son,” nephew Dr. Tommy Ward and wife Donna; sister Kathleen Ward and brother Barnes Parks and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to his beautiful daughter Belinda Reid for her loving care over the last few years.
Visitation was August 21 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Services were August 22 at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Farmerville with the Rev. Kurt Auger officiating. Interment followed in the Farmerville Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Union Parish Council on Aging Meals on Wheels Program or the American Lung Association of the Southeast.
