Gerald Thomas 'Pops' Franklin (07-24-2014)
A loving husband, father and grandfather, departed to his heavenly home on July 14, 2014. He was 69 years old.

“For I know that my redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth, and after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God “ Job 19:25.

Gerald Thomas “Pops” Franklin is survived by: His loving wife of 51 years Mary Jacqueline (Jacque) Pilgreen Franklin; three sons – Gerald Kevin Franklin, Kenneth Richard Franklin and Craig Michael Franklin and wife Haley; daughter Cheryl Anne Franklin Reynolds and husband Phillip; seven grandchildren – Alex Ryan Franklin, Kyle Christopher Franklin, Kelsey Marie Franklin, Matthew Kevin Reynolds, Brad Michael Reynolds, Hayden Lee Franklin, Chloe Marie Franklin; great-granddaughter Ella Grace Franklin; two brothers – Freddie Ray Franklin and wife Diane and Mike Franklin and wife Betty; two sisters – Elizabeth Holmes and husband Charles and Myra Lou Blake; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Floyd and Edra Franklin; and six brothers – John R. Franklin, Billy Joe Franklin, Charlie Franklin, Ike Franklin, Terry Franklin and Ricky Franklin.

Gerald attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and was a retired salesman from Institutional Foods. His hobbies were watching LSU football games and fishing the marshes at Grand Isle with Jacque and his grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. until a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m., conducted by Dr. Richard Blue.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Watson Library.
