George “Duck” Phelps (01-02-2014)
Funeral services for Mr. George “Duck” Phelps, 83, of Farmerville were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Conway Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Carter officiating. Burial was in Conway Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Mr. Phelps, a retired propane route salesman, passed away December 28, 2013. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Army and a former Dixie Youth baseball coach.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Clara Baker Phelps and Evelyn Phelps; parents, J.D. and Inez Phelps; and brother, Willard Davis Phelps.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Richard Phelps and wife, Melba of Marion and Barry Phelps, Sr. and wife, Kim of Spearsville; two sisters, Latance Futch of Farmerville and Zimma Futch of Marion; nine grandchildren, Misty P. Smith and husband, Jheramy, Wesley Phelps and wife, Rossi, Ben Phelps and wife, Candi, Mandy Phelps and wife, Cathleen Palmer, Barry Phelps, Jr. and wife, Rebecca, Ryan Phelps, Kyle Phelps, Chelsea Hampton, and Madison Courtney; 8 great grandchildren; his special pets, Spike and Cooper; and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Barry Phelps, Jr., Jheramy Smith, Ben Phelps, Wesley Phelps, Ryan Phelps and Kyle Phelps. Honorary pallbearers are Brody Phelps and Bradley Phelps.
Visitation was at the church Monday from 5 p.m. until time of service Tuesday.
